Crytals: A Brief History

Natural stones or crystals have been used throughout the ages as decorations, gifts of affection, symbols of power, and money. However, on the lesser known side, crystals have also been used for healing and bringing balance to the body. Let’s take a look at some of the ways ancient civilizations used crystals to heal.

Ancient Egyptians used many crystals such as lapis lazuli, turquoise, carnelian, emerald, and quartz for protection and health. Topaz and peridot were also used by the Egyptians to stop night terrors and remove evil spirits. The Greek culture wore amethyst to prevent drunkenness and hangovers. Greek soldiers would rub hematite over their bodies before battle to help protect them, and help make them invulnerable from attack. Jade was widely used in the Chinese culture to bring good luck and to heal the kidneys. There are even legends of crystals being used by the Atlantis culture to cure all types of disease. But is this just superstition, or is there something more?

Over the next several weeks, we’ll take a look at how the ancient cultures had it right; crystals and stones do have healing properties. We’ll explore:

  • How the stones/crystals are formed

  • How we can use the stones/crystal's vibrations to heal

  • What areas of the body/energy field can be healed using stones/crystals

  • How to choose the right stone/crystal through muscle testing and intuition

  • How to make elixirs and healing salves using stones/crystals

  • Even how stones/crystals are used today in modern society
